He holds a master's in composition from the Stuttgart State Music Conservatory, where he studied with Martin Schüttler. He has a bachelor's in music from Harvard University, where he studied with Chaya Czernowin, Steven Kazuo Takasugi, Vijay Iyer, and Claire Chase.
