🎉 Celebrate National Volunteer Month 🎉

As we step into April, we're celebrating National Volunteer Month, a time to spread volunteer spirit that enriches our community.

Volunteers play an important role in our community, especially our Virtual Senior Center. This month, we're excited to bring you some stories. From those who’ve been with us for over ten years, to those who are retired and contribute their time to our members, and also the young generation who brings fresh energy to us.

We invite you to join us in celebrating together. Show our volunteers your appreciation by giving them a shoutout on social media, or by sharing your feedback on the classes they lead. Our volunteers appreciate the work that goes into leading classes you love.

Coming up, we’ll share some volunteers’ stories this month. You can dive into these stories by subscribing to our YouTube channel or clicking the blog posts below. Hope these stories can light up your days! 😊

If you have a topic and passion to teach, we’d love to hear from you. Through live programs, you will be able to share your subject and engage with inquisitive older adults looking for imaginative content and meaningful connections.

We encourage volunteer facilitators from all backgrounds and locations to bring diverse experiences to widen the world of older adults.

Programs run the content gamut: art and music appreciation, history, health, the sciences, exercise, storytelling, literature reviews, travel, computer training, hobbies like cooking and birding, and much more. Check out a list of some recent classes and experiences.

Just let us know your expertise, and we will help you craft a course that sparks our seniors’ interest.

What you need to know.

Qualifications. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, interested in and sensitive to working with older adults, able to facilitate an online group, have basic computer skills, and have access to a reliable computer/device with high-speed internet, a microphone and a webcam.

Scheduling. We can work around your schedule. Classes are one hour long and are held 365 days a year for much of the day and into the night, so you’ll have a lot of options to choose from.

Training. We provide support and training from course content to classroom dynamics to computer set-up.
