Arts | Exploring The Art of Musical Theater: How did Musical Theater Begin? w/ Kaylyn N.

Today, we will dive into the roots of what made Musical Theater the performing art it is today. We will discuss the beginnings of the craft, starting from the influences of operetta and vaudeville. We will then discuss some of the first-ever Broadway Musicals! Join Kay for a series on the concepts of Musical Theater. Learn about this beautiful performing art by discussing its history, shows, performances, traditions, and more!

Each class will discuss a different topic under the overall umbrella of musical theater. Kay Nelson is a junior at Pace University NYC studying Musical Theater with a minor in Commercial Dance. She has been a performer of all trades since she was 10 years old and loves to share her joy of art to others. You can catch Kay in many performances around the city when she is not training. She cannot wait to share her passions with everyone!
