Privacy Policy
Selfhelp is sensitive to the privacy of our participants of our Virtual Senior Center (“the Service”). We keenly recognize the need for appropriate protection and management of any personal information provided to us via this Service. We’ve established this Privacy Policy to assist you in understanding the type of information we collect and how that information is used. This Service is owned and controlled by Selfhelp. By accessing this Service, you acknowledge the terms and conditions set forth herein. We reserve the right to change these policies from time to time, without notice and at our sole discretion.
1) What personally identifiable information does Selfhelp collect from you?
Selfhelp collects information from our users at several different points on our Service. In general, you cannot access the Service without a username and password, which most often are provided to you by Selfhelp or one of its representatives. We also collect or create an email address. We therefore know what you do within the Service. For example, we record visiting domains and the internet addresses of the domains from which people visit us to analyze a user's session. The user's browser also lets us know the type of computer and operating system being used.
Selfhelp does NOT collect nor store information about the website your visit, including passwords of web sites that you may visit, such as online banking or online shopping.
2) How does Selfhelp collect and use information?
Selfhelp is the owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, trade or rent this information to others in ways that are different from what is disclosed in this privacy policy. Selfhelp collects information from several points on our Service.
We track, record, and analyze class attendance information. We record that information so that we may better improve the service and report to our funders on the utilization of the service. We collect and store results of surveys on the platform. WE DO NOT AND WILL NOT SELL ANY INFORMATION TO THIRD PARTIES and reporting to any third-party is always done without any personally identifiable information.
We also use the information to identify you, by your first name only, within our “classroom interface.” This is purposefully done to build social connections between you and the other participants within the classroom.
We also may record your name, image, and voice as part of a “recorded class.” We may then replay that class within our interface. Every recorded class is noted that it is a recorded class so that you may decide whether you want to participate in that class. You may decide to participate in the class, but without your image displaying. Your name will still appear. If you do not want your name, your image or your voice to be recorded, then you must not attend the class. Attending the class gives Selfhelp your permission to use your image, voice and name within its recordings and you cannot make any claim of ownership of that recording. Selfhelp will own it in its entirety.
3) What is Selfhelp's policy regarding links to other Services and third parties?
Selfhelp's Service may contain links to other sites on the Internet, which are owned and operated by Selfhelp's partners, customers, advertisers and other third parties. Selfhelp has initially reviewed these links, but the links may change at any time as Selfhelp has no control over such external sites. Therefore, Selfhelp does not endorse any external sites and is not responsible or liable for any content, advertising, products, or other materials that may appear on or may be available on, from or through any such external site. We encourage our users to be aware that when they click on a link to another site they should read the privacy statements of each and every web site that collects personally identifiable information. Selfhelp is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites or any other web sites that are linked to our site that may collect personally identifiable information about you. The data collection practices of those web sites are not covered by Selfhelp's Privacy Policy.
4) What options do you have regarding collection, use and distribution of your information?
If you decide that you do not want your information collected, then you can notify Selfhelp of your intention. You will be asked to terminate your use of the Service and return any equipment that Selfhelp has given to you for the use of the Service. You may also ask that Selfhelp delete any information that it has collected on you in the past, which it will do.
