Andrew: Broadway & Performing Arts are Enjoyed by Everyone
Imagine this - a person who works with the likes of Tony, Oscar, and Grammy award-winning artists dedicating his time to volunteer at our Virtual Senior Center.
Andrew found his place here! With his passion for the performing arts, he turns classes into engaging conversations - Broadway Trivia and Conversation, which is the name of his class.
Came Across the Virtual Senior Center When I Was Homebound
People have different reasons to come across the Virtual Senior Center. Despite being homebound and facing illness at that time, Andrew still wanted to volunteer and help people while sharing his passion for the arts.
As the volunteer of the class "Broadway Trivia and Conversation," Andrew liked the flow of conversations peppered with their shared experiences. He fosters an atmosphere where learning is engaging and interactive. Through the audio clip, you can see how Andrew interacts with the group.
“When I do bring something like these things that just randomly come up within the game and the questions and everything, a lot of my repeat students get very excited and happy about it. I'll let some of the new students try and answer first. We learn things along the way but talk about our passion for the shows, and we have some fun.”
Members’ Positive Attitude Brighten Andrew
The members at the VSC do leave a deep impression on Andrew, especially their good memories. When he screened an old show and interacted and interacted with the students, he was surprised that some members even remembered the first show they saw in the 1930s or 1940s, what actors were in the play, etc. Members’ spirit of positivity and independence inspires Andrew. When Andrew leads his class, the members also brighten his life.

“I feel that there are some passions and callings in life that never go away. You know you feel like that emptiness if you don't have that within your life, or you're working within that then something is kind of missing.”
